The David Brower Center / Oxford Plaza housing is an integrated model of sustainable design. The mixed-use urban project includes office space for non-entry of non-profit organizations' work beneficial to the environment, a conference center, restaurant, affordable housing, commercial areas, parking lots and sub-grade. David Brower The central part of the project was designed to achieve a LEED Platinum rating from U.S. Green Building Council. The building features natural ventilation, sophisticatednatural day-lighting strategies, photovoltaic panels and rainwater. System side of the building embodies the philosophy of rollover Tues sustainable integration of design and engineering of high performance seismic. The system used to create prestressing cable ductile shear walls and moment frames for damage resistant structure and characteristics of force recovery. The use of slag, a byproduct of the industry, will reduce the embedded energy "and" carbon footprint "of the buildingthe order of forty percent. This is the first Bay Area project, the use of high slag cement on such a large scale. Both the high slag cement and reorient the structure have been proposed for LEED innovation credits.
