Ride across this towering new bridge and the famous dam that is just upstream in Black Canyon. Known during construction as the Hoover Dam Bypass, the bridge is now called the Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and was opened to traffic October 20, 2010. It will also surely be recognized as the Hoover Dam Bridge. It has pedestrian access where the incredible dam can be viewed from 840ft above the Colorado River. The bridge is quite impressive at a distance, but you may notice it is not pretty to look at when viewed up close, with its blotchy roadbed and vast expanses of lifeless concrete. The dam is much more appealing as far as structures go.
